Be it the glistening stars of the Kashmir valley, the cloudy heavens of Mussoorie, or the burning flames of the Bangalorean dusk— the sky above never fails in its beauty. It’s like God designed it as a constant reminder for human beings, so that every once in a while we could look up from our chaotic, uncertain lives and remember all that is beautiful and unadulterated in this world. Yet, we humans have forgotten to take pauses in our everyday race and take a moment to appreciate these fundamental lessons.
When was the last time we stopped to look outside and admire the stars twinkling at us from galaxies far far away- reminding us just how insignificant our problems are in this huge universe? When was the last time we paused to look at that snow white cloud filtering the diffuse sunlight into a heavenly ray of light- as if God were touching that piece of Earth especially to bless it in that moment? Or just the pure, untouched periwinkle blue of the sky at daytime, all barrier-less and free, reminding us of the futility of our petty borders and walls…
We take for granted the things of beauty we have around us, and then we complain about the ugliness in this world.
Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “If the stars should appear one night in a thousand years, how would men believe and adore; and preserve for many generations the remembrance of the city of God which had been shown! But every night come out these envoys of beauty, and light the universe with their admonishing smile.”
